How to get from Kuala Lumpur to Desaru Coast

Desaru Coast is on the south-east tip of Johor, about 4 hours by road from Kuala Lumpur. There is no train, and direct buses to Bandar Penawar are few and take 6.5 hours or more. Flying to Senai takes about 1 hour, then about 1 hour by road (around 80 km) to the resorts. A private car goes straight from your KL hotel or KLIA to your resort lobby in about 4 hours, from RM670 for the whole car (Toyota Innova, up to 6 people).

The resorts are spread out

Coming from Singapore?
There is a ferry from Tanah Merah in Singapore to Desaru Coast (about 1.5 hours), and the drive from Singapore via the Causeway takes about 2 hours. From Kuala Lumpur, driving is the most direct.
Weekends and school holidays
Desaru is a popular family getaway. Friday evenings and the start of school holidays are busy on the expressway, so leave early.
Going back to KL or the airport
A return booking is two separate one-way trips. If you have a flight from KLIA, leave Desaru at least 6.5 hours before departure.
